Professional Background:
Plastic Surgeon
Family and Personal Background:
Married to Ainsley for 20 years. Sons Christopher (16) and Andrew (13). All are avid sports fans. I have a high regard for family values and that is why my wife and boys are wanting to help in this endeavor. I hope to be a good example for my kids by showing them that every great challenge and goal takes time, dedication, preparation as well as mental and physical stamina to obtain. In the end, it is worth the effort.
Athletic Background:
Travel hockey since the age of 6 through high school (two state championships) and currently adult leagues. I played baseball through high school until my career was ended by three knee surgeries in college. I was flattered to be scouted by the Cincinnati Reds while playing. I also played high school tennis and had a record of 39-0 playing doubles with my younger brother. During medical school I kept my sanity by running triathlons.
Why are you involved in Team Donate Life?
I was initially introduced to organ transplantation in my residency in Nebraska and found this fascinating and rewarding. I use donated dermis (skin) tissue in my plastic surgery practice and often care for local heart transplant patients with difficult wounds. Bottom line is this is a GREAT cause and I hope to raise more awareness in my community.
