Jason Weckworth - Weckworth Electric

I own Weckworth Electric Company, an electrical contracting firm with my wife Kristen, where we focus our efforts on electrical service needs and commercial projects. We especially promote the values of Integrity, Experience, and Relationships within our business strategy. Two of the most unique projects I have worked on were as Electrical Project Manager for the Mondavi Performing Arts Center at U.C. Davis and Raley Field (AAA Baseball Complex) in West Sacramento. I also hold a B.S. Degree from California State University - Sacramento in Business Administration / Marketing.
Family and Personal Background:
I am married to Kristen with five children... Stephanie, Jessica, Sierra, Aaron, and Natalie. I have lived in the Sacramento area my entire life, and we currently live in El Dorado Hills, CA.  I am also the Director of Drama Ministry at Rolling Hills Church in El Dorado Hills. I genuinely love people, and I consider it a great honor to give a large portion of my talents and gifts back to our community in whatever ways I can imagine.
Athletic Background:
I love to run Marathons! I have raced in twelve marathons, including the California International Marathon many times, the San Francisco Marathon, the Chicago Marathon, and the San Diego Rock-n-Roll Marathon among others. The most significant race of my life was in 2003, just four months after undergoing my kidney transplant surgery as a donor. I have also raced in three ultra-marathons, including the American River 50-Mile Ultra and the Cool Classic 50K Ultra.

My second athletic passion is cycling. I have endured two 3,000-mile cycling events called "Two Guys on Bikes," that were completed in Sacramento in 1992 & 1993. These events were done in an effort to gain public awareness and raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy... a tribute to those less fortunate than we who often take our health for granted.
Why are you involved in Team Donate Life?
In 1998, my father was diagnosed with kidney failure, but our family knew nothing about the possibility of organ transplantation. It took 5 years of declining illness, including eventual kidney dialysis, before we learned of the incredible life-saving benefits of kidney transplants using live donors that was available through U.C. Davis Transplant Center.

On August 5, 2003, I was able to donate one of my kidneys to my dad with very little health risk to myself. Just 4 months later, I ran the California International Marathon, while my dad ran across the finish line with me in completely restored health. It was truly a miracle for our family.

With over 60,000 people on a nationwide kidney transplant list, I want to share this wonderful gift of life and continued hope for other families throughout our country. I want families to know that there are transplant options available to them, and I want families and friends to know that they can donate to their loved ones.
