If you found this donation page then you probably already know who I am and that I have a Liver Disease. It would be so easy for me to just sit back and let life happen. I could drink all the milkshakes people buy me after surgery, play all the video games I want after every surgery, and play the pity card, but my parents taught me different. I know that in order for me to live to the fullest I have to take risks. I have to try things that most people would say are impossible. Both of my parents believe this kind of thinking too, and that is why both my parents will be racing across America with me this summer.
I will be the youngest person to ever cross the finish line at Race Across America and it won’t be easy for me. In the past 8 months I have had to go in the hospital 6 times. Each time I go in it takes me about a week to recover. I am so determined to finish this race that I will not allow this to stop me from preparing for RAAM. I will finish!
$100,000 sounds like a lot to most people. Especially to a 12 year kid like me but it really isn’t that much once you realize how quickly it can be spent to support Organ Donation research and awareness. Me and my family are Donate Life Ambassadors and we work really hard all year promoting the National Registry, Organ Donation knowledge, and even passing important bills in Congress to help educate Teens before making the choice at DMV. My mom has always taught us that this is how we will turn something hard and painful into something amazing. With the help of my Family, Team, and some really great friends it is my personal goal to raise this much money by the time I start on Race Across America. I will use the support I receive from so many people and businesses to keep me motivated to finish this race and have me and my families voice heard!
Right about now if you know me you are laughing because I am truly only afraid of one thing and that one thing is Public Speaking, but like I said in the beginning I have to do things that are a risk and after sitting down with my mom I quickly realized my risk isn’t going to be in the actual race across America but in the lime light that it puts me in. I have always been a very shy kid and this journey is definitely going to teach me how to speak publicly about my disease and hopefully help save a life.
Please support me in this goal. Even if it’s a small amount it helps. I have a long road ahead of me and I’m gonna need all the help I can get. Last but not least I would be so happy if you keep track of my journey on www.connorsjourney.com my goal is to put a smile on your face everyday!
